Latif Bolat

Last weekend, my daughter and I went to see a really cool trio from Turkey called Latif Bolat . They do music from the ancient and mystical past in the Middle East, as well as doing a little history of the music and the culture. It was very entertaining and very informative. We are sooo lucky to have an active cultural society here in the north of nowhere. They had a guest dancer at this performance, doing the dances of a "whirling dirvish" and that left me simply dumbfounded that anyone could keep up twirling like that for so long! He never missed a beat!! Their website is equally informative and well written. The trio is currently residing in New Mexico, so if you have a chance to see them, we highly recommend it!!!

Martinis anyone?

Everyone has been talking about chocolate martinis!
I couldn't help but do a little research and find out just what that is. (Not that I would recommend alcohol to anyone... No, not me!) Looks yummy! I think I will have to just give it a try... so long as someone drives me home!!! ;) I don't drink normally, so it wouldn't take very long! heeee

Thia week has taken forever for going by so quickly. I can't believe how fast this whole semester has flown by, even if it did seem to drag week to week. Oh well, that is life, I suppose.

Gotta go now and fix the youngin's some chow, so have a great day.

And it starts to wind down... and speed up!

Well, I finally finished my 3rd of 4 papers for Philosophy. This one was a continuation of Buddhism, and the other major religions of China and Japan. It was a process that took me all day today, but it was worth it! There is an end in sight, and I am starting to get excited. Tomorrow I will be fitted for my cap and gown!!! May 19th will be here in a minute. And finals, too! But then it will be my first degree. I have waited for 27 years to be able to say that...

Now I have to decide if I want to knuckle down, take 2 classes this summer, then polish off the last 2 in the fall, or take the summer off and relaxe, then have a year to have to complete. I have worked hard these past semesters!!!! And if I take all the classes at once, I won't be able to keep going to this campus. The next university is about 100 miles from here, so guess who will have to move or commute? Not fun, but I will have to do it eventually.

Well, anyway, just wanted to say hello, then go do my happy dance on the way to the shower... I have to go and get ready to do it all again tomorrow.

Goodnite!

Fun with flowers

Last night my daughter tired to take photos of the full moon. Well, those didn't turn out the way she wanted, so she took pics of the daffodils on the porch using different lighting effects. They came out really odd! The backgrounds came out blue and purple when the wall is actually beige. I couldn't help but play with them a little. It was fun!

Sunday as it should be

Ahhh, Sunday mornings!
No rushing about to greet my public.
Lounging around lazily on my favorite cushion.
She's a little lumpy, but you make do with what you have, eh?

(Make no mistake, it's Cookie who rules this roost!)

More Pic practice

Well, my tiger didn't turn out too poorly, so I am attempting another digital pic.

This is another one of my sculptures from class, a little bit dark, sorry!

He's silly, but I like him, too. He is my first attempt at sculpting.

Sunday Morning.

I thought that I would post something positive for a change.
I finally broke down and bought a digital camera with some of my ill-gotten booty from school. And for fun I tried my hand at taking pics of one of my sculptures... at least it won't run in circles while I try and focus.

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and please post when you can. I jes' LOVE reading your posts!!!

Bye for now.
