On "Doubt"

I made a new sculpture today. He is "Doubt." I certainly didn't start out to make him, but there he is, in all his rawness. It is as if he has been lurking in the back of my mind for a while, and now that he's done, there is a tremendous sense of lightening inside, and that's definitely a good thing. I have felt better all day. Sometimes you just have to get things off your chest, eh? I hope you go see if you think he looks like what doubt feels like for yourself. He's in the gallery.

Thank you very much!

I would love to have a show anywhere, but haven't tried to submit to any galleries yet. I have a real "Doubt" about my art. heee ;> Do you want me to make you something?

Gotta admit, the first reaction to my stuff is usually a long stare, so at least I am making people think a little when they see it. But mostly the comments are "Weird," and "You should take your work to San Francisco. Some crazy person there might want to buy it."

Doubt is now turquoise colored, and awaiting final firing. Although in retrospect, I probably should have done him in a very pale shade of gray, something that wasn't racially specific. The idea was given to me by my professor, to make him look like an antique jade piece. We shall see, since he should be fired this week. Keep your fingers crossed, I always hold my breath until my pieces are finally completely finished!

Thanks for your lovely encouragement, too! My face is also my fave, since it was my first one.
