Okay, Okay...
Yeah, I know that it has been a while since I posted last. To put it simply, I have just been out of the mood to write...
But, man, leave the place unattended for even a short while, and look what happens. I got tagged again!!! I must be the most popular person in the world! GEEZ, THANKS GUYS! I will just have to finish the first one before I do the second one. Patience please. Thanks for thinking of me for all your projects, I really will take both of them to heart and do them. Really, I will.
I have been watching Firefly with my daughter. What a great show! She got me hooked on it when we were stuck in the house for weeks at a time with the rain. Dunno why they took it off the air. Just go get the videos of Firefly, and the movie Serenity. I know you will enjoy it.
I have also started a new semester at college. Thank Goodness I am almost done with this. I am just getting old. Only a week in and the semester has be fraught with hassles already! Par for the course. Speaking of which, I have to be running for now, so I can do my homework.
Love ya guys!
Time to start again with a new page, and a new dedication to life! I may not be attending college any more, but in the words of Michelangelo: Ancora Imparo! ~~ I am still learning!

26 Days and Still Counting

Hey, who left the faucet running?!
Yeah, we are still wading through the wet stuff, although it hasn't been enough rain recently to cause too much concern with flooding (knock on wood!) After 26 straight days, though, it has become rather tiresome. The weatherman is predicting at least 10 more days of bleak and dreary yet to come... Yeccchhhh!!! Better than the snow back East, though. My friend sent these pics of Michigan.
Some vacation, eh? I have been knitting for most of it, between Christmas presents and everyone's annual list of wants. I have made 5 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of arm warmers, 4 hotpads, and a baby hat so far this break. Socks are the best... funky or frilly, the more colorful, the better! Warmth and comfort, for the Hedonist in everyone.
This week wasn't totally without merit, though, in spite of the weather. It had its exciting moments, too. Found out I won my local Soroptimist's Scholarship! Had to do the happy dance on Tuesday, for sure. Didn't think I would get that one, 'cause I literally ended up turning in the application with 5 minutes to spare ON the due date. Cutting it that close last month, gave a thrill of terror that I don't ever want to repeat. It was all because I had to wait on a letter of recommendation that day. Really, I owe my professor a swift kick in the patoot for all the nuisance he created...

We made it!
Thanks to everyone who left me comments on my last posting! All the vital positive energy was greatly appreciated.
Several roads finally opened yesterday, and now we are all hunky-dorey until the weekend, when the next storm is due. Ahhhh, such fun... The situation didn't end up all that bad, save for running out of gasoline. It could have been much worse!
Thank goodness the ground around here is so porous. There are not too many puddles left now that we have had 24 hours without rain. It always amazes me that it sinks in so fast...
So everyone be good and take care of yourselves! Thanks again.

And another one bites the dust
Happy New Year! my dear friends and fellow bloggers,
It has been raining in this neck of the woods for 2 solid weeks, and my family and I are more than a little afflicted with cabin fever. It is one of the perks of living in a rainforest, but there are times when you just need a little bit of a change, ya know?! Makes a person crabby and glum. The roads on all sides of us are flooded, so no incoming gas, no grocery trucks, no snailmail... We Loaded up on the staples today from the market. I hope things clear up soon!
My nephew and his wife came up from San Diego while he is on leave from the marines, and it took them 3 days to get here. They arrived yesterday. They literally had to convince someone on the last leg of the journey to take them up a fire trail across the mountains above us to get into town!!! I am not sure who they had to bribe to do that, either! There are areas just a few miles down the road from here that are under 5 feet of water, so I am extremely grateful that we are at least not floating away... There is another storm heading this way, so say a prayer for California, please!
But to get back to New Year's Wishes.
Thank you for a very interesting and informative year. I have learned a lot 'bout the world (be afraid. be very afraid!) Yes, Virginia, there are some really Weird people out there!!! My kind of people... There are some really nice ones, too.
Actually, it has been a lot of fun!
So, what has this blog taught me? Here are the highliughts:
*I have learned some about HTML, and this is always a good thing when mastering the beast that is computer. Proof positive that an old dog CAN be taught new tricks!
*People may actually like my cooking. Somewhere out there my recipe is on (count em') 3 blogs. Gotta go find another one to post. Or two.
*Never sit at the feet of anyone who is running for Ruler of the World and plans to do it in a toga...
I owe the world my copy of the dreaded sevensevens, and will have it up shortly. Stay dry and be cool!
